Bio

Lee Keenan is a freelance Lighting and Scenic Designer and Director of the Theatre Program at Loyola University Chicago. Lee’s research interests focus around Immersive Theatre designs.  He holds an MFA from Northwestern University, and in the before times was a company member of The House Theatre of Chicago, a founding member of a site specific company Sandbox Theatre Project, and an Artistic Associate and resident scenic designer for several seasons for Silk Road Rising.  Immersive Designs of scenery, lighting and select puzzle for The Last Defender ( two Chicago runs and one at The Denver Center), and Nova to Lodestar (pandemic canceled) were some of Lee’s favorite projects of the 29 shows he designed during his time with House Theatre. Lee has designed lights for Lookingglass Theatre Company, Court Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Victory Gardens Theater,  Centerstage Baltimore, Kansas City Repertory, Court TheatreThe House Theatre of Chicago, 500 Clown, The Building Stage, Silk Road Theatre Project, Next Theatre,  The Griffin Theatre, Eclipse Theater Company, Apple Tree, About Face Youth Theatre, Bailiwick Repertory Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre,  Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Bailiwick Chicago, Theatre Seven, Buzz22 and Circle Theatre.  He has designed scenery for  The HypocritesSilk Road Theatre ProjectCollaboraction, The Building StageThe House Theatre of Chicago, Infamous Commonwealth Theatre Company, and Adventure Stage.
